Standard Development Rates
Here you can find my standard rates for web services. Keep in mind that anything listed on this page is a rough estimate. To receive an accurate quote for your specific needs, please send the details of the job to me at daniel@fourstaples.com and I will get back to you promptly. Final estimates are based on a $30/hr rate multiplied by how many hours I expect it to take. This estimate will remain the final price unless major additions or changes are requested mid-way through the project.

Recurring Fees
Here are some estimated web hosting and domain name fees that are charged monthly or anually. They are a part of every website, and any money put into hosting or domains goes straight to the companies that handle the service-- I do not take any profit for setting you up with these services. A more detailed explanation can be found below the table.
| Description of Service | Rate |
|---|---|
| DreamHost 10-year hosting and domain name package * | $6.43 / month |
| I'm in the process of adding more to this table, as this certainly isn't your only option! To get a general idea of hosting costs, assume between $8 and $15 dollars a month depending on the size of your site and the length of the plan. | |

"Web Hosting"? Why do I need this?!
You could have the largest, most well-designed website ever devised, but unless you have somewhere to put it, no one will ever be able to see it!
Sure, you could setup your computer to "host" your website for you, but that often comes at more expense to you than benefit. If you ever turn your computer off, or go offline, your website won't be available; while you download music or watch online videos, your website will become slow and lag. This is where a web host comes into play.
Web hosts are companies that run computers dedicated to storing websites, on internet connections dedicated to sending your pages to your viewer. These companies usually charge a monthly or yearly fee to provide this service for you. These are the "hosting" fees you can find in the table above.
What's a "domain name", and how many will I need?
A "domain name" is the address you tell your clients or friends to go to in order to access your website. For example, the domain name of this website is fourstaples.com.
How many you register is entirely up to you-- most people opt to register a single domain name, but registering more definitely has its advantages. Sometimes people don't remember the domain name suffix (the "com" or "net" part of the name), and so if you own mywebsite.com as well as mywebsite.ca, it will be easier for people to find your website. Not to mention, it'll be listed twice as often by search engines. Registering more than one will also help to ensure that competition or other business don't register a domain name similar to yours in an attempt to divert your potential customers to their website.
